A Grandma’s Delight

This week I am delighted to be spending the whole time with my granddaughters, Lia and Isabelle. The week started with a day trip with Grandpa Rick to Ottawa where we celebrated Alison’s 34th birthday on the 24th. Lia was asleep when we arrived late in the morning so we helped Alison make her birthday dessert….delectable Martha Stewart gingerbread cupcakes covered in chocolate ganache. After lunch we headed to Pembroke where we walked on the grounds of a retreat centre. Alison especially wanted to walk through a labyrinth there and so we did, the three of us holding hands and praying together when we reached the centre of it. Lia was quite content to be held in her mom’s sling until the last five minutes or so when Grandpa scooped her out of the sling and carried her. It was so warm that we took our shoes off and walked in the cool waters of the Ottawa River. On the way back to Ottawa, we picked up some gourmet take out food for supper. The cupcakes were ‘the icing on the cake’….the end of a wonderful day with precious family.
